Soft Glam, Your Way: Planning a Makeup Look for Your Next Occasion

coco · Oct 5, 2026 · 2 min read

Soft glam means different things to different people. For one person, it might be a subtle eye look and a neutral lip. For another, it might include defined brows, a little shimmer and a more polished finish. The most useful starting point is to describe how you want to feel when you see the finished look.

Build a small inspiration collection.

Choose a few photographs that show the colours and finishes you enjoy. Look beyond the whole face and identify specific details: a warm eye shade, the shape of the eyeliner, or the balance between the eyes and lips. Tell your makeup artist which details you want to keep and which you would prefer to change.

Plan around the occasion.

A daytime gathering, an evening celebration and a portrait session may call for different approaches. Share the event time, the setting and whether photographs are part of the plan. You can also mention the colours of your outfit and accessories so the artist has a clearer picture of the overall look.

Agree on what the service includes.

Ask whether lashes are included, how long the appointment usually takes, and whether travel is available. If the artist will come to you, discuss the location and the space they need to work. Confirm the total quote and any additional services before the appointment is booked.

Give your preferences a voice.

If you like a light finish, say so. If you prefer a stronger lip colour or do not want lashes, share that too. You do not need to know every product name to explain your taste. Clear examples and an honest conversation are often a better starting point than technical language.

Leave time for the final details.

Work backwards from the time you need to leave and allow room for dressing, photographs and any final adjustments. Let your artist know if there is a fixed departure time so you can plan the appointment together.
